A busy month here at 2MV where we spotlight two valued employees; Darren who reached a significant 5 year milestones and Gordon who’s inspiring story shows the benefits of working with a family run business.
Five Years of Dedication: Darren’s Journey with 2MV
Darren joined 2MV Logistics during lockdown in 2020, after being made redundant from a food delivery role when the hospitality industry temporarily closed. Initially joining through an agency, he quickly made an impression, and by July 2020, was offered a full-time position with 2MV.
A proud dad and local football coach for the Lee Rangers Spitfires Under-13s, Darren values the work-life balance his Monday-to-Friday role provides. He loves being on the road, meeting people, and enjoying the variety each day brings – “I couldn’t imagine being stuck behind a desk all day!” he says.
Earlier this year, Darren faced a period of ill health, and 2MV supported him through it, adjusting his role temporarily so he could work in the warehouse while he recovered. Now fully fit and back on the road, Darren says he’s grateful for how understanding and accommodating 2MV is, particularly when he needs to care for his elderly mum. “It’s a great place to work,” Darren says. “Everyone at head office has always been so supportive.”
Gordon’s Story: From Helicopters to HGVs
Before joining 2MV, Gordon spent an incredible 30 years in the military as a flight testing technician, working on Lynx helicopters before they went out of service. After redundancy, he retrained for his Class 1 HGV licence in 2016 and began a new chapter in logistics.
Following several years working through agencies, Gordon started with 2MV in 2020 and soon became a full-time driver. He loves being part of a family-run business where people come first. “The hours are good, the people are great, and I really enjoy being out on the road,” he says.
When Gordon broke his leg in 2024, 2MV kept in touch throughout his recovery and ensured his job was waiting for him when he returned, something he describes as “a real reflection of how supportive the company is.”
He also wants to challenge the perception that driving is a lonely job: “As a multi-drop driver, you’re always meeting people, it’s a friendly, social role that keeps you moving.”
