The month we sat down with our International Business Development Manager to learn more about his journey into international logistics, what attracted him to join 2MV, and how his role is helping to shape the future of our global air and ocean capabilities.
𝐐 How long have you been with 2MV, and what attracted you to join the team?
I joined 2MV back in November. However, when I first met Jim Tyler (2MV’s Managing Director) at the original site, which was over two years ago now, we discussed the future ambitions of the business and how my experience could contribute to those, specifically developing the air and ocean trade lanes.
During that two-year period, 2MV purchased their new warehouse facility, and we revisited and continued the conversation. I then met Natasha and Lawrence, who also shared the same ambitions. This was the main reason for joining the team: the opportunity to implement all my experience and skillsets in a company that has the energy, vision, and investment capabilities to succeed.
📍 𝐐 Can you tell us a bit about your background and experience in international logistics?
I am originally from Feltham, West London, which is located right next to Heathrow Airport. In 1997, my first job was as a post-flight boy at a company called Fritz. I then progressed through my airfreight operational career with Panalpina, RH Freight, and Uniserve. It was at Uniserve that I got my opportunity to step into sales.
I was fortunate enough to be mentored by the Sales Director, which included a sales campaign out in the Middle East, Dubai, and Qatar, before taking up an opportunity to work for Virgin Atlantic Cargo. It is here that I gained valuable insight into how airlines operate internally, which later became very valuable in my sales career.
📍𝐐 What does your role as International Business Development Manager involve on a day-to-day basis?
My day-to-day role covers all elements of sales, business development, and client relationship management, inclusive of marketing and procurement.
Identifying and integrating CRM systems, alongside documenting sales procedures, focuses on setting a strong foundation for future growth and performance. My role is busy, varied, and challenging.
